Be the Ripple Project
About the Project
Be the Ripple has been a project of the CHAOS Network with Neighbourhood and Community Houses in the City of Knox and parts of the Yarra Ranges, to support community members with a life limiting illness who wish to be cared for to die at home, and the people supporting them.
This has been through:
General community engagement supporting increased conversations and knowledge around dying and death, choices in end of life care, grief and loss, Advance Care Planning and end of life celebrations.
Resources and information for people supporting or considering supporting a loved one to die at home. We are in the early stages of developing a series of workshops, using specialist services to look at some of the realities of caring at home, where to get assistance and how to support the caring journey.
A meals and visit service to support both carers and the person being cared for.
The support we offer aims to compliment support and services that may be in place through the regional palliative care services and other in home support.
If you would like to learn more about the project, a copy of the report can be found here.
We wish to acknowledge the Victorian State Government Department of Health and Knox City Council for making funding available for this project, and the Palliative Care unit of La Trobe University, in particular Dr Andrea Grindrod, for their ongoing support.
