Be the Ripple Project
About the Project
Be the Ripple is a project of the CHAOS and works with the five Houses in the City of Knox to support community members with a life limiting illness who wish to be cared for to die at home, and the people supporting them.
There are three main components to Be the Ripple:
General community engagement supporting increased conversations and knowledge around dying and death, choices in end of life care, grief and loss, Advance Care Planning and end of life celebrations.
Resources and information for people supporting or considering supporting a loved one to die at home. We are in the early stages of developing a series of workshops, using specialist services to look at some of the realities of caring at home, where to get assistance and how to support the caring journey.
The third component is in home support. This is provided by trained volunteers and can include social activities, transport, companionship, dog walking, gardening as well as the opportunity for carers to have some time out or companionship. The support we offer aims to compliment support and services that may be in place through the regional palliative care services and other in home support.
