Supporting Carers Locally

Victorian Government funded project boosts carer participation in CHAOS Houses, creating inclusive and supportive environments.

Funded by the Victorian Government via the Department of Health and Human Services from 2019 – 2021 this project aimed to increase the numbers of carers participating in CHAOS Houses through the following strategies and activities:

  • Increasing awareness of CHAOS member Houses
  • Resourcing CHAOS member Houses with ways to modify, change, create opportunities for carers
  • Establishing and building relationships with other agencies providing support for carers to ensure effective referrals from CHAOS member Houses

Despite the disruption of the Pandemic limiting some opportunities for engagement there were some valuable learnings that assisted the CHAOS Houses to continue the work of increasing carer participation post the funding. This included successfully applying for a State government funded Carers Employment Support Program during 2022 and 2023.

In the spirit of reconciliation CHAOS acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
